The short version. Zelos exists so a coach can see your training. Almost everything you record in the app is visible to the one coach you are connected to, and that is the point of the product. We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with anyone else except the service providers listed below who help us run Zelos.
Health data read from Apple Health gets extra protection. We use it only to show your coach your training, never for advertising, and we never sell it.
This policy explains what Zelos Fitness Inc ("Zelos", "we", "us") collects when you use the Zelos apps and websites, why we collect it, who can see it, and how to get rid of it. If anything here is unclear, write to us at john@zelos.fitness and we will explain it in plain language.
Zelos has two kinds of user, and the difference matters for privacy:
A client is connected to exactly one coach. That coach can see the training, nutrition, cardio and check-in information described below. A coach cannot see anything belonging to a client who is not theirs.
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Account | Email address, name, password (stored only as a hash we cannot reverse), and if you sign in with Apple, the identifier Apple gives us. |
| Profile | Optional date of birth, gender, height, unit preference, training goal, current and goal weight. |
| Training | Workouts your coach assigns, the sets, reps, weights and notes you log, how hard a session felt, and personal records calculated from that history. |
| Nutrition | Foods you log, portions, calories, macronutrients and micronutrients, saved meals, and the targets your coach sets for you. |
| Cardio | Sessions you log by hand, and the cardio your coach prescribes. |
| Check-ins | Your weekly check-in answers. Depending on what your coach asks for, this can include body weight and other body measurements, written notes, and progress photos you choose to upload. |
| Messages | The messages you and your coach send each other. |
If you use the iOS app and grant permission, Zelos reads workout and activity information from Apple Health. This typically includes completed workouts and their type and duration, heart rate during those workouts, and daily active and resting energy. We read this only after you grant permission in the system prompt, and you can withdraw it at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy and Security, then Health, then Zelos.
Our commitments on health data, which follow Apple's rules for apps that use HealthKit:
We do not use health data for advertising, marketing, or any similar service. We do not sell health data, and we do not disclose it to data brokers, advertising platforms, or analytics providers. We do not store health data in iCloud. We use it for one purpose: showing you your training and letting your coach see it so they can coach you.
Zelos does not run advertising, does not include advertising trackers, and does not build advertising profiles.
This is the main way your information is shared, and it is what you signed up for. Your coach can see your profile, workouts and logged sets, nutrition logs, cardio activity including sessions synced from Apple Health, check-in answers including any body measurements and progress photos you submit, and your message history with them.
We use a small number of companies to run Zelos. They may process your information only to provide their service to us, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
| Provider | What it does |
|---|---|
| Neon | Hosts our database, where your account and training information is stored. |
| Render | Runs our application servers. |
| Vercel | Hosts our websites and web apps. |
| Cloudflare | Stores uploaded media such as exercise videos and any photos you submit. |
| Resend | Delivers our transactional email. |
| Sentry | Collects error reports so we can fix problems. |
| Apple | Provides Sign in with Apple, Apple Health access, and delivery of push notifications. |
| Anthropic | Powers the optional feature that reads a meal you describe in your own words and turns it into food entries. See below. |
If you type a description of a meal such as "an apple and some peanut butter", that text is sent to Anthropic so it can be turned into food entries with estimated portions. Only the text you type for that meal is sent. Your name, email, health data and message history are not sent. Anthropic does not use this text to train its models. If you would rather not use this feature, search for foods directly instead and nothing is sent.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, or where we genuinely believe it is necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of a person or of Zelos. If Zelos is ever involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information could transfer as part of that, and we will tell you before it happens.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use your health data, your photos or your messages for anything other than providing Zelos to you and your coach.
You can delete your account from inside the app: open the Me tab, choose Delete account, and confirm. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
What is erased right away: your sign in credentials, so nobody can access the account again; your name, email, date of birth, gender and height; your food log, saved meals and food preferences; and all activity and daily health totals synced from Apple Health or a connected wearable.
What your coach keeps: the workouts and programs they wrote for you, your logged training history, your check-in submissions including any body measurements and photos you sent them, the nutrition targets they set, and the messages between you. This material is your coach's professional record of their own work, and it stays in their account after you leave. It is no longer attached to your name or contact details.
If you want your coach to delete their copy as well, ask them directly. You can also write to us at john@zelos.fitness and we will help.
Coaches cannot delete their own account inside the app, because a coach account has clients and a subscription attached to it. Email us and we will handle it.
We keep your information for as long as your account is open. After deletion we keep only what is described above, plus limited records we need for security and for our own legal and accounting obligations. Backups are kept for a short period and then overwritten, so deleted material can persist in a backup briefly after it disappears from the live service.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, obtain a copy in a portable form, or object to how we use it. Much of this you can do yourself in the app. For anything else, write to john@zelos.fitness and we will respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our lawful basis for processing is the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and secure, and your consent where you have given it, such as for Apple Health access and push notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Passwords are stored only as Argon2 hashes, never as text we could read. Traffic between your device and Zelos is encrypted in transit, and our database is encrypted at rest. Sessions can be revoked, and we rotate sign in tokens and detect reuse of a stolen one. No service can promise perfect security, but we treat health and body information as the sensitive material it is.
Zelos is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. A coach may work with a minor over 13 with the consent of a parent or guardian, and that adult should review this policy. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, write to us and we will remove it.
Zelos is operated from the United States and your information is stored and processed there. If you use Zelos from another country, you are sending your information to the United States, where privacy law may differ from your own.
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Zelos after that means you accept the updated policy.
